Drugs are essential components of health care systems and play a crucial role in saving lives. Without the rational use of drugs along with the constant availability of essential medicine, quality of modern health care is unimaginable. The irrational use of drugs has become the worldwide problem than the absence of drug information. In Nepal, limited studies have assessed the pattern of drug use practices in a different level of health care settings. However, it is important to evaluate the drug use situation and the quality of drugs in health facilities that provide more complex health services. The current study is aimed at assessing the quality of drugs and pattern of drug use by using WHO prescribing, dispensing, patient care, health facilities indicators in health centers representing the three ecological belts of Nepal.
