The world is in the midst of COVID 19 pandemic and accounts for more than 3 million deaths globally. Currently, there are no approved drugs available and hence several studies are going on in search of suitable drugs that can target viral proteins or host receptors for the management of COVID-19.  There are several vaccines available for COVID 19 and at least 7 vaccines have been administered. Since the vaccines are newly developed, information about the strength of protection and effectiveness are yet to be studied. In this scenario, the search for plant-based antiviral agents against the SARS-CoV-2 could be promising because several plants have been shown to possess antiviral activities against different viruses.
