The Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC) organized as meeting with hospitals, medical colleges and academies of health sciences on 24 August 2018 at NHRC. The objective of the meeting was to establish multidisciplinary research unit or research department in each academy of health sciences, hospitals (having more than 100 beds) and medical colleges, and gradually developing these into centre for excellence in specific research areas in different provinces of Nepal. It is expected that such practice will foster research culture in different provinces as per their local needs. The meeting was attended by Executive Chairperson and vice-chairperson of NHRC, NHRC Executive Board Members and Research Officer of NHRC, Chair of Ethical Review Board of NHRC, Chief Specialist and Division Chiefs of Ministry of Health and Population, Directors of Department of Health Services, Vice-Chancellors of Academy of Health Sciences and representatives of Medical Colleges and Hospitals. Most of the attendees of meeting appreciate the initiatives and ask NHRC to continue follow up meetings for establishing or strengthening research unit or departments.
